Try Octopush!

Octopush was originally concieved as a way for sub aqua divers to keep fit in winter. It has been played for around 50 years now and there are about 70 teams in the UK. It is played by both men and women, frequently on the same team (as at Newport).

There are up to 10 players on an Octopush team, 6 of whom can be in the water at any given time. The players wear a padded glove to protect the hand that holds the Pusher from knocks. Rubber fins for good manueverability provide propulsion and the ensemble is completed by a mask and snorkel (and a swimming costume naturally!)

A shallow metal goal 3 meters long is positioned at each end of the pool and the object is to push the Puck (or Squid) into the goal. For a full set of rules click here

We are a friendly club and we are always pleased to see new players. We will show you how to play and we pride ourselves on allowing beginners the time and the space to enjoy learning the game. If you'd like to come along and have a shot then just turn up at Newport International Sports Village pool (for map click here) at 9:00 p.m. on a Monday.
